Did anyone watch The Tonite Show on tuesday night 8/28?........In one of his skits titled "tattoo or no tattoo" he interviews a girl on the street who says she was brought up in a strict conservative household and was an ex-Jehovahs Witness, ex-exotic dancer, and now a masseuse..... Anyway, I thought it was cool that she stated she was an ex-JW without batting an eye. Myself, I hate to tell anyone that I was once affiliated with that religion. Embarassment on my part , I suppose.

Since when?!!!!
by mjs mouse, ben inrecently one of my brothers sons who is a 22 yr old jw mentioned to me rather excitedly that he just got back from ozzfest 2007, telling me him and his gf who is also a jw (elders daughter) rocked to bands such as "ozzie ozbourne" "lamb of god" "three inches of blood" and "static x" to name a few.
i was astounded by his "revelation" that he and his gf among many other younger jw kids attended this event with jw parental consent.
i remember when i was growing up around the jw religion even mentioning the name of ozzie ozbourne was reason for a trip to the back room for a "talk" with the elders.

My question is "is this conduct of JW youth now broadly accepted within the religion?"....By the way, he told me this as he was suited up and on his way to the Sunday meeting, lol.

I don't think this is an overall congregation practice(maybe so!) but I know of a "strong" JW family that will watch movies such as "Hell Boy", "Xmen" etc..and even let ther kids play games such as "Halo" or any other violent game, but refuse to watch "Passion of the Christ", go figure, lol.

Unfortunately I did work for JW's twice, both ended with bad experiences. I also got involved in a few of the multi-level marketing schemes, didn't ever make a dime while the top of the pyramid(usaully elders or elders wives)were driving around in Mercedes, you all remember schemes such as Excel, Melaleuca, Pre-paid Legal? Anyone out there that you know of make any $$$$ with these MLM companies?

How did your parents punish you?????(Fluff)
by whyamihere innow i know the topic may be thought of as abuse scenario, however it is not.....(i am sick of hearing about abuse).
i threw a party at my house(parents came home early)....anyway, as a punishment i was to sand and stain shingles for the house.
this was a huge job it took me 2 weeks to get it all done.

My JW Mother used to beat us with a belt, I guess her hand wasn't good enough, she would hit us while yelling at the top of her lungs "you know why I'm hitting you, dont you?", and sometimes I really didn't know. And btw it was with the buckle end of the belt. She would always quote that "rod of discipline" scripture after each beating. Out of all of us kids, only 2, one sister and one brother ended up being abusive to their children. And those are the two that are the most "spiritual". @#holes.

Well I'm with what seems like the minority here, BOO FRICKEN WHO! and I mean exactly that. WHO the !@#* was Sydlyk, most persons I ever talked to who either knew him or met him couldn't even tell you whether they liked him or not. Your either with em or against em. No time in my life for being a JW apologist!
